The Luano is one of the most remote valleys in Zambia. A beautiful river, called the Lunsemfwa meanders its way through the region and eventually flows into the Luangwa, before the Luangwa meets the Zambezi. It is this connection that has provided the Lunsemfwa with a range of fish species. We use this valley mostly to target Vundu. There is no better place in Africa to catch large Vundu. We also go for Tiger fish. The tiger here are not as large as the ones found in upper Zambezi. We find they are longer and slimmer, likely because of fighting the faster currents of the Lunsemfwa. Even the juvenile Tigers in this river will give you a fight you wont forget. One can comfortably fish with all manner of lures here, as well as fly fish.
There is a camp that we use, based on the east side of the river in the West Petauke Game Management Area (GMA). It is an old hunting camp that is no longer in use for professional hunting and we have an exclusive deal there so when our guests book, no matter if its an individual, that guest shall have the camp to their own pleasure. Should this camp not be available then we operate the fishing on a mobile basis, setting up comfortable camp sites in strategic locations.
This fishing experience is available from June to the end of October.
